Welcome to Antiquarian Journal! Antiquarian Journal is a place where I share my antique finds, a little about the history of each piece, and show you how to carefully restore old furniture.
My home is filled with inherited furniture, art, and finds from second-hand shops. My hope is to give readers ideas about how to incorporate these pieces into your everyday decor and make them functional!
I have been restoring furniture as a hobby since 2011. I started with refinishing my great grandmother’s mid-century buffet. I’ve learned a lot along the way and really enjoy the excitement of finding a diamond in the rough that I can restore as close to it’s original state as possible.
I’m also an art lover and enjoy decorating our house with artwork that has been passed down or bought at auctions. I buy most of the art pieces in our home at online auctions because I have found auctions have a wonderful selection.
The rest of the art in our house has been passed down through four generations. I am not exaggerating when I say I’ve loved art since I was a small child. There was something so interesting and peaceful to me when I looked at the vivid art pieces my Grandparents had throughout their house.
I love old things and enjoy sharing their stories! I also hope to inspire readers to take on restoring old furniture or understanding its value and ways they can use them in their home. I’m also excited to learn from others and hope to connect with those who have the same interests- whether they can learn from me or I can learn from them!
